I struck lucky and was given the opportunity to mono print for a workshop, i saw this as an opportunity to really work on generating some sort of outcome for my dictatorship. A time to refine and define the imagery of my logo and poster.
I figured early on that the combination of red white and black were the perfect mixture from the limited palette of colour supplied within the induction. The works also inspired the tutors in the studio to mention that the prints seemed to be a form of propaganda. I also found that keeping things as simple as possible helped, matching the simplicity of the logo, i only added a circular surrounding to the emblem.
Now i obviously couldn't forget about my damming command. I cut the text in a way that resembled the blocky, simple design of the emblem, and had a revelation that, with the emblem forming a P shape, i could also use it within the text. I started to consider the possibility that this maybe meant that i wouldn't need the emblem within a circle aspect of the design, but just didn't find the use of just the text interesting enough, also using a bright colour bas quite the mis step, but what can i say, at this point i wanted to branch out.
These are a merging of both the emblem and text, much better. The space seems like it is used appropriately and it is also simple to read. Your eye is grabbed by the bright white, which also centres your eye on the emblem. The emblem then points you down to the text/ command, simple and effective.
And from there i created a print consisting of the colours i wanted, sure it may be backwards but it let me know for sure that red white and black were to be my colours currently.
Some tasty finals, incredibly happy with these, but its difficult to choose a better option, seen as both differ with inverse logos. I believe as the project advances ill come to a decision, i may even change or add a colour, no longer having to stick to the few supplied.
