Research: Pruya’s shakti

So this one has quite the story, it’s another AR comic, but this one has has the aim to educate about sexual violence. Aimed at teenagers, it was made in response to an attack that occurred in 2012, a gang rape and murder in India.

The protagonist herself is a rape survivor turned superhero, who has so far worked to help other rape survivors and acid attack victims.

There has been two issues released and can be accessed for free digitally.  An admirable choice considering there is a large team behind the project, which is a naturally pricey setup. I take this to be a sign of the genuinely good intentions of the team, utilising the digital space to spread a word of peace, rather than as a means for business. Its a rare case of art created out of love and a need. This was started on the 22nd of November 2014, with the second releasing September of 2016. I think this goes to show how time consuming and demanding the process can be towards making AR comics. This is yet another reason that I need to have a grounded approach to working with AR, not only is it costly and demands the know how, but is also time consuming.

Sadly, there hasn’t been a great deal released interview wise, and It’s quite hard to single out who is doing what within the large team making the comics, I can possibly allude to the time issue within my essay.
