Kickstarting a graphic novel

Starting to consider what would happen with the comic/ graphic novel once it had been made, I looked at the avenues covered for the research of the essay. This naturally gave me the classic method, working with publishers, and then the more recent approach, and more of a focus for the essay, crowdfunding. Seen as it is more of a focus, I chose the crowdfunding avenue, looking more to kickstarter than patreon. The project, I feel would work better as a full book, rather than individual pages released over a period of time, as would be the case for a web comic.

In the hopes of better understanding what it takes to create a Kickstarter, I did a little research in to projects that share similarities with my own project. These could then act as a template for a Walk among the giants kickstarter campaign. Here are some notes that I made:

- Quite a lot of consideration seems to go in to the presentation unsurprisingly. Each successful          campaign has a video, stylised headers and all the necessary information.
- The reward schemes tend to be quite restrained, mostly easy to make decorative items such as prints, and different versions of the outcomes are what is to be found.
- There is the odd out there rewards, props that relate to the project, but these dont tend to be too popular, and are always the pricier rewards.

I think I could mock something with this information.

Whats next:

Im going to draught a campaign page, making headers and a teeny weeny animation that could act as an opener for a introductory video. I with then also make as a side, a mock package that would resemble that of a reward tier, a copy of the book (although it will be the sample version) with a selection of postcards, and a fold out poster. This should keep me busy, and also should be a little exercise in self branding and presentation.
