Design stuff

This comic is shaping up, but theres got to be something to draw attention, It needs a cover. Its only appropriate that the titular character should take the stage for this, a portrait was my first instinct.

This was the result, and would be something I feel could easily be used for the cover. But I know I can get a touch more of the story in there, even if its a subtle one. Earlier in the process, I talked about the overall plot of the comic, extending past the sample that I am creating. In the comic the boy dons an outfit to be more tree folk like, it is this plot element that I would like to include. Its simply going to be strokes of paint/ dirt across his face, resembling the bark of the tree folk. This will hopefully allude to the reader a future plot point, or be an ooohh moment when that moment is reached in a full version of the comic.

Alongside the boy, and again because she isn't featured within the sample, I opted for another portrait on the reverse of the motherly figure. Im going to work some more on these when I get round to tackling the typography of the book.
