I got so caught up in researching
people, that I totally forgot to stick to the essay plan… so I got back on
track.
It felt good to get my early process of
the essay out there, lord knows I haven’t been this prepared at this point in
previous years. I got some interesting feedback
Basically the conclusion was drawn that
my focus should be on comics, with that as the foundation of the project, I can
then venture in to the other areas of interest. A specific example of this
could be the use of animation within comics to make what is known as motion
comics.
I had been considering an angle of
research where I analyse different cultures approaches to storytelling, but
this now doesn’t really seem to be appropriate for the project, and was
admittedly something I had been shaky on working with considering no culture
has one shining example of a peice of media that showcases all that makes them
unique.
If I’m going to work with comics and
technologies that work alongside them, I’m best to focus on the now or the
future, and need to avoid getting bogged down in the historical aspects.
Comics don’t rely or depend on tech,
something I need to keep in mind for my essay, ensure I still cover comics as
they are. With this I should compare both physical and digital presentations of
comics, talk about how they are competing, or possibly helping one and other in
sales.
So yeah, I have a lot to consider and
work from.
