Having a much
better understanding of the project now has made for a better experience, the
output I’m creating has a purpose, rather than things being thrown at the wall.
The draught essay submission is coming up, and for the first time I can say I
have a confidence in the work I am uploading for it this time, comparing to
previous years. It’s still far from being complete, but I feel is showing signs
of a solid foundation. I’m also starting to engage with the physical work,
experimenting with AR thanks to the research driving my practice.
The comic itself
is coming along nicely, finding both layouts to work with on pages, and an
aesthetic that suits a specific, younger demographic. The AR work is exciting,
instilling a need to play with the medium and refine to the best of my
abilities. And as previously mentioned, I feel I am in a good place with the
essay, ideas are forming and I have a solid groundwork to build from,
especially once I get the feedback from the draught submission. Receiving this
will allow me to continue my body of research also. The subjects covered within
the essay currently are reaching their limit, and the subject could be expanded
upon.
I do have concerns
that if I delve too deeply in to the AR work, I may focus too heavily on it. It
is a subject that really interests me, but there isn’t any doubt in my mind
that the comic is of more importance. I’m also uncertain as to whether I have
enough information and concepts for the world of walk among the giants to start
developing the comic itself, an action to take would be to stretch the
conceptual phase a little further, develop a more confident idea as to how the
comic should look overall.
