Something that I looked at last year, I
feel this case relates to my new question when considering the idea of
modernisation in comics, how publishers are considering moving their catalogues
of work in to the digital age, and maybe going a step too far.
“Colour is a language that the graphic artist
uses to manipulate his readers attention as well as to create beauty- special
study and attention must be paid to the language of colour.”
Moebius was clearly someone that felt
the use and application of colour in his works was really important. To change
the colour work of the comic is an interesting move to consider. As a creative,
the idea of someone touching my work would be blasphemy, but the publisher
probably didn’t even think of it, thinking it would be a good business
decision. This in turn has ignored the principles of the artist, and alongside
this, didn’t take in to consideration the core audience, the result of which
has blown up in their faces and understandably resulted in backlash.
