Here is a page from a comic that I recently picked up, and find the colour use to be quite interesting. The story follows a man, returning to the town he grew up in, living there as a boy with his hard ass father. This scene is the mans first time revisiting his old home whilst having flashbacks. It is interesting that rather than use the typical sepia tones to connote a flashback, the artist (Jason Latour) uses bold red. It brings an element of violence to the scene, as paying attention to what is going on, the scene is the protagonist, as a boy, witnessing his father fending off a group of armed men. Everything about the flashback panels works to introduce the father to be a very powerful man, the low, intimidating view of the man, multiple armed men taken out with a blunt weapon, and most importantly, the red adds to to empowerment, instantly indicating the notion of strength and violence.
